My name is John R. Llewellyn and the author of four books about Mormon polygamy. In the year 2000,when my first book, Murder of a Prophet, The Dark Side of Utah Polygamy, was published, I had no idea where it would take me. Since then I have appeared as an expert on numerous national television news shows, many national radio talk shows including South America, Korea, China, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia. And I have been interviewed by several major newspaper reporters in the United States. Of course this has all been good in publicizing my books, but I owe this notoriety to Tom Green, David Ortel Kingston, Brian David Mitchell, Warren Jeffs, and the gullible Texas men in the FLDS who took under age girls as plural wives.
What are my credentials? I am a retired Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. who specialized in sex crime investigations. After I retired I became involved with the Apostolic United Brethren, AUB, the second largest polygamist group in Utah. I once had three wives, now only one. I disassociated myself from Mormon fundamentalism because of the crime, corruption and abuse that is endemic to the lifestyle. I became the lead investigator in a law suit against AUB and its prophet to recover 1.5 million dollars in cash stolen from Virginia Hill . I then became the investigator in a law suit against the True & Living Church and its prophet, James D. Harmston, accused of defrauding $250,000.00 from Kaziah May Hancock. I am a board member of Tapestry Against Polygamy, the only organized anti polygamy group in Utah.
As a result of my contacts and experience I have interviewed dozens of victim of polygamy, both men and women. I have studied and interviewed principals in all the main polygamist groups. I have several Nineteenth Century first or second edition books about Mormonism printed as early as 1857. Some of these books will eventually be reprinted and offered for sale on polygamybooks.com.
My forth book, Polygamy's Rape of Rachael Strong, A Protected Environment for Predators is a true story about a 20 year-old girl who was severely coerced into an unwanted bigamous marriage for sexual purposes. The perpetrator was her sixty year-old, step-father and the prophet of the polygamist cult where she was raised and brainwashed since age 12. She wanted the perpetrator prosecuted but the San Pete County Attorney and Utah Attorney General declined prosecution, not because of lack of evidence, but because she was 20 years old and not a minor.
My fifth book, soon to be published is entitled Mormon Polygamy, Virus of the Mind.
