HATE MONGERING

HATE MONGERING

“You can safely assume that you’ve created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.”  Anne Lamott

Hate is an inescapable emotion deep within the human condition.  Rage spurred by hate inspires action.  Violence is the consequence of hate and rage.

Hate has been used by religions, political parties and governments to rally a base.  Hate is the impetus behind ethnic cleansing.  Hate is a useful tool.

Mormon fundamentalists are easily excited by hate – and consequently are  good haters.  Why is that?  Because they are prone to only believe their leaders.  They tend to trust in the supernatural over reality.  They are told they are the chosen people and that there is an array of hostile forces dedicated to their destruction.  They are perpetual victims emboldened by persecution.  Consequently they are easy prey for conspiracy theories, hidden agendas and assorted fairy tales.

We have seen the tragic results of hate in 9-11 - the atrocities against Jews during World War II - against African Americans and homosexuals.  Hate is so much a part of the human condition that governments have enacted statutes under the heading of hate crimes.

In the matter of the Virginia Hill law suit which I have referred to many times in this blog, it has been brought  to my attention by reliable informants that members of the AUB oligarchy have been telling blatant lies about Virginia, Rod Williams and myself in obvious attempt to mitigate AUB’s culpability.  A hefty judgment of 6 million dollars had been levied against the Defendants.  It stands to reason that in order to get the loyal members to come to the rescue of AUB the Defendants must somehow manipulate and alter facts to make them look like innocent victims.

There are a few AUB members who have the temerity to think for themselves and question the “slanderous” remarks of their leaders.  Some of these free thinkers have contacted Rod, and some have contacted me, asking questions.  Of course I am not going to reveal the identity of these inquiring truth seekers.  In any event, what I am hearing and what Rod is hearing is the same.

At first I just passed the slander off as sour grapes.  I knew the Defendants had to save face.  But as the reports of defamation became more intense I thought maybe if I posted an entry on my blog about the percussions of slander it might save us all future problems.  I know that the Defendants are monitoring this blog, hoping I will say something that can be used against me or Virginia.

During the discovery period of the law suit, prompted by John Putvin, there was an attempt to defame Virginia’s character by portraying her money as ill-gotten in an attempt to turn the tables and place her on the defense.  In response, Virginia’s attorney assigned me to do a background check on Virginia, in case you are not aware, I’m good at what I do.  While I was collecting the facts, Putvin had hired a private detective in Las Vegas to dig up dirt on Virginia.  The detective earned his money and sure enough dug up some dirt.  Ironically, it turned out there are several Virginia Hills in Las Vegas and the detective got the wrong Hill.

In the interest of brevity I will respond to the calumny thusly:  the money was not mafia money.  It did not come from a bank robbery.  She was never a “whore.”  To use that insulting word to demean her character is as disparaging as calling a plural wife a “whore.”

Virginia has been the proprietor of several successful businesses.  She has a keen entrepreneurial mind.  There was no evidence whatsoever that her money was ill-gotten.

John Putvin did not distort the infamous tape recording between him, Dennis Matthews and Owen Allred, to make only Owen and AUB look guilty.  What he did is delete a few sentences of his own remarks to mitigate his own involvement.  During the trial the original tape showed up under mysteriously Putvin-like circumstances confirming what I just said.  The context and culpability of the tape recording had not been tampered with.

John Putvin hated Owen Allred because Owen did not support him in a child custody case.  While hiding out in New Zealand, waiting for the statute of limitations to run its course, he attempted to use Rod Williams to destroy Owen.  But he misjudged Rod who played along.  Putvin was brilliant in many ways;  his weakness was in thinking all men are as duplicitous as himself.  Putvin’s strategy was quid pro quo, thinking he had Rod by the short hair he gave up a copy of the infamous tape recording.  Thinking he was impervious to arrest or civil suit Putvin returned to the US only to find us waiting with a summons and complaint.

While in New Zealand Putvin took a few law classes.  What he didn’t learn is that when he left the country the statute of limitation clock, stopped.  It started up again when he returned to Utah.

Finally, neither Rod nor I have special powers to manipulate, alter or create evidence to cast guilt.  The evidence that we discovered and testified to in court was stark reality.

Now back to the issue of hate.  Allow me to paint a theoretical scenario.  AUB has had its share of radicals and fanatics.  With that in mind, if AUB authorities should intentionally spew slander with the idea of incurring hate, and violence ensues, then all concerned could be civically libel and subject to prosecution for hate crimes.  Why take the chance?  Hasn’t the lessons learned in the Hill case been an expensive lesson?  Don’t set the stage for some fanatic to take it upon himself to do something stupid, thinking he is avenging the priesthood.

My advice to the AUB oligarchy is not to encourage or sustain bravado.  No one is impressed by the rumors of AUB members with the deadly skills of Special Forces.  It was challenging and entertaining playing cloak and dagger with John Putvin, but no one on this side of the equation is in the mood for that nonsense anymore.

It is possible by way of “cognitive dissonance” for the mind to doctor facts but the altered facts occur only in the mind, not reality.   I would like to think that the loyal AUB members are donating out of love of priesthood and not hate of imagined enemies.  We are not enemies, we only seek truth and justice.  AUB’s enemies are within – the AUB leadership has no one to blame but themselves for the mess they are in.
