THE HUMAN MOUTH

                The human mouth and tongue are such versatile organs.  We use them to breath, eat, talk and even make love.  The body is dependant upon the mouth for energy.  If the mouth should swallow the wrong thing it could have disastrous effects on the body. 

                The brain is dependent upon the mouth to articulate its thoughts.  If the mouth should utter the wrong thing –well, you know the moral of the story.

                During the Second World War there were numerous cautionary signs saying, “Loose mouths sink ships.”  Remember that old proverb, “Think before you speak.”

                When Rod and John started making inquiries into Virginia Hill’s stolen money if Owen Allred and LaMoine Jenson had gone directly to a good lawyer, the lawyer would have told them, “Keep your mouths shut, don” talk to those fellows.”  Had they done that and followed the lawyer’s advice they may have gotten away with the crime instead of being branded by the Utah Supreme Court as participants in a “pattern of criminal activity.”

                It was utterances by the Defendants that led to the two most damaging pieces of evidence:  the infamous tape recording and the two Assignment of Trust Deeds.  The recording established the conspiracy, the Deeds were proof that the conspiracy was carried out.  Together they showed it was clearly an AUB operation. 

                Loose mouths not only sink ships but can lead to expensive law suits.   Beware of tape recorders – some are hard to detect. 

                A member of the AUB oligarchy stated, paraphrased, “we must be careful in the future that we don’t embrace another Rod and John.”  The way to avoid more Rod and Johns is to tell the truth, don’t deceive, don’t steal, don’t tolerate abuse and don’t encourage people to hate – rather than only recruit true believers that you are sure will support and follow AUB leaders under any and all circumstances. 

                But old habits are hard to break.  And with some members of the oligarchy, that apparently means it’s hard to tell the truth.  If what we hear is true, the latest fib is a dandy.  It seems that one particular member of the oligarchy is telling the membership that before the defense strategy fell apart, that is, when the investigation looked like it might make it to court, they tried to settle with Virginia, time and again, but she wouldn’t settle.  That my friends is a whopper, a big lie.  The story we heard is more credible.  Owen wanted to settle but he was overruled by the council. 

                Had the Defendants actually tried to settle with Virginia back then, I feel certain she would have settled for the 1.54 million she lost – saving the AUB faithful over 5 million dollars.  But then, AUB is used to losing the hard earned money of their members.  Ask those who have been around since before 1977 when Rulon was murdered by Ervil LeBaron, ask them about the cement business in Montana, the pig ranch near Delta, the gold recovery farce, the clothing manufacturing idea, the aborted DI Ranch debacle and of course the Kootenai Creek property, just to name a few.   The AUB priesthood does not have a good track record when it comes to business projects.  What it is good at is merchandising plural wives and selling ritualistic illusions like priesthood authority and endowments.
