Time Magazine: Mitt Romney on the Cover

Time Magazine:  Mitt Romney on the Cover

Also on the cover is the title of Time’s article about Mitt:  “Why don’t they like me?”

In this short essay I am taking exception to Time Magazine and its article about Mitt Romney.  But first let me qualify myself.  I am not a Mormon or member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – although I was one at one time and therefore acquainted with LDS Church teachings and values.  Furthermore, I have not decided that Mitt is my candidate.  I also like Newt Gingrich and Michelle Bachmann and hope one of these three will be our next president.

What I look for in the Republican candidates is as follows:  Is he or she a capitalist conservative and has the knowledge and experience to create an environment that creates jobs.  Foreign affairs is second in importance.  Then immigration and the war on terrorism and crime (drugs.)  Of course there is some overlap like poverty and jobs.  Lastly – the candidate must appear presidential.  That’s where articulation, knowledge, integrity, demeanor and presentation comes in.  If the political pundits are right, it will be the independents who will decide who are next president will be.  In other words, can he or she effectively attract the independent vote and have the charisma to work with the democrats in congress.

Above all, we must get Obama out of the White House.  The primary issue is which candidate has what it takes to do it.

When it comes to economics I think Mitt prevails.  When it comes to how Washington works Newt and Michelle prevail.  All three of these candidates are not bashful about confronting China and Pakistan and realize the immense importance in keeping Israel an ally.

What I would like to know is how they will treat political cronyism.  We need competent people in important places.  We need people who put America first and not a political party, lobbying or personal interest.    I could go on but, back to Time Magazine.

I have not read the article nor do I intend to, so what I am relying upon is what the Deseret Morning News had to say about the article.  (See the News, 12-2-11).  (http://www.deseretnews.com/article/705395218/Time-asks-why-voters-dont-like-Mitt.html?pg=2)

I don’t need political pundits to tell me that Obama (a social democrat and liberal) is concentrating on denigrating Mitt Romney.

Time Magazine is a liberal publication and although it pretends to be fair and balanced, it contributes to Obama’s agenda to denigrate Romney.

The media has made good press about republicans looking for an alternative to Romney.

Many people are still suspicious and dislike Mormonism which is not the same as the LDS Church.  Mormonism includes people like Warren Jeffs, an evil predator who, because of confusion, has not done the LDS Church much good.

Many of the things that are said about Romney are simply untrue.  He has plenty of courage and compared to Obama would be a gigantic leap better and more American.

If Romney adheres to the social, family and patriotic principles promoted by the LDS Church he would make a great president.

Anything Romney might do as president that would help the LDS Church would also help Catholicism and every other legitimate Christian denomination.  Where separation of church and state is concerned, I have no worries about Romney.

There is a double standard between liberals and conservatives.  It okay for liberals to lie.

So there …….. for what it’s worth.
